Since its introduction in 2015, the Coleman Cortes Octagon 8 tent has been a huge favourite with campers across the UK, including our customers at BCH Camping. In 2020 it received a welcome upgrade to include blackout technology, ready for the 2021 season.
More families have turned to camping for a staycation this year due to its low cost and greater availability, compared to other UK accommodation. In response, the focus of camping product designers has turned to replicating home comforts in tents and camping equipment.
For the Cortes Octagon 8 tent, Coleman have addressed the bugbear of many campers in summer: daylight streaming through the canvas (or less romantically, polyester) at 6am!
Coleman’s revolutionary BlackOut sleep system was a gamechanger for the Octagon 8 tent. Blocking out 99% of daylight, the system is ideal for parents of young children who bounce out of bed at dawn, and for anyone whose sleep is sensitive to daylight.
The BlackOut system doesn’t need to be used all the time. It can be closed over the flysheet when required, or left open for the flysheet to allow daylight in, making the tent light and airy.
Using the BlackOut system has the added benefit of keeping your bedroom up to 5°C cooler during the day and up to 1°C warmer during the night. This helps you to manage the temperature in your bedroom by storing energy from the sun on the surface of the fabric.
The tent sleeps up to 8 in one large room, making it ideal not only for families with young children, but also large groups on weekends away, holidays or festivals.
By erecting just the inner, and not using the outer fly sheet, the Octagon 8 can be used as a bug-proof garden screen room, providing additional outdoor space that is protected from direct sunlight, flies and bugs.
