The down is ethically sourced from European suppliers that adhere to the Responsible Down Standard. This safeguards the welfare of geese and ducks that provide down and feathers by ensuring that there has been no removal of down from live birds, and the birds haven’t been force-fed.
The down undergoes a Hydrophobic process developed by Rab and Nikwax whereby each cluster of down is treated with fluorocarbon-free Nikwax to make them perform better in damp conditions.
A size 12 Deep Cover Parka carries 340g (12oz) of down.
The exterior layer of the nylon is coated with a durable water repellent (DWR) finish. This provides a level of protection in light snow, but the coat is not classified as waterproof.
