The snowdrops are among us! The first sign that spring is on its way is always welcome. It signals the back end of winter and the prospect of family walks and more time spent outdoors.
Yes, this is the time of year filled with hope and optimism! Without wanting to speak too soon, the prospect of finally waving goodbye to COVID restrictions has created a renewed enthusiasm for planned days out, using outdoor centres and getting together with extended family and friends.
At BCH Camping, every day we help individuals and families find the most suitable outdoor and walking kit for their leisure needs. Choices of footwear, clothing and backpack equipment are made based on the regularity of walking trips, the expected terrain and budget.
In the BCH Camping women’s walking shoe range, you will find well-known brands Meindl, Scarpa, Keen and Merrell. For versatility and comfort, a popular choice is the Merrell Moab 2 Mid Women’s GORE-TEX walking shoe.
Merrell brand and the emergence of MoabMerrell was established in 1981 by Clark Matis and John Schweizer of Rossignol, the ski company, with the launch of a new brand of hiking boot. In collaboration with Randal Ivan Merrell, who had been producing custom boots for $500 a pair, in 1982 Clark Matis designed a more affordable high-performance boot, the Moab. Since its inception, the Moab has been worn by almost 20 million outdoor enthusiasts.
Merrell has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Wolverine Worldwide since 1997. As a brand, Merrell’s ‘purpose’ is very customer-centric: “At Merrell, we believe in sharing the simple power of being outside with everyone. No matter who you are, where you came from, who you love or how you move, everyone should be welcome in the outdoors and wherever life takes us. We strive to inspire everyone because, together, we can help protect the trail we love.”
This approach has inspired Merrell to produce some of the most dynamic footwear for men, women and children. The Merrell Moab 2 mid women’s walking shoe has the versatility to complement your mood and activity. If you’re off for a local walk with the dog or friends, the Merrell Moab 2 Mid Women’s walking shoe offers comfort and support. For more active days, this is a great adventure shoe that reacts to your movement, pace and chosen terrain.
The Merrell Moab 2 Mid Women’s walking shoe benefits from the GORE-TEX® waterproof membrane.
Why should you choose walking shoes with a GORE-TEX waterproof membrane?GORE-TEX is a breathable, waterproof fabric found in high-performance walking boots and jackets. GORE-TEX stops rain from getting in while allowing perspiration to escape. That’s smart! But how does it do it?
There are two layers of nylon with a layer of microporous Teflon® between them. The Teflon® keeps the rain out because it is a liquid made up of droplets, each of which is around 20,000 times bigger than the holes in GORE-TEX, so they can’t get through. Meanwhile the Teflon® allows sweat, which is water in the form of a gas, to drift out through the GORE-TEX by the process of diffusion. Clever stuff.
